Welcome to Ethical Girl!
Friday, May 30th, 2008Ok, ok, so we all get it – green is the new black. While this catchy slogan rolls of the tongue quite readily, it can be easier said than done when it comes to putting the theory into practice. We all want to make better choices with our ailing planet in mind, but what to do when that cute made-in-China tank is only $7 and it looks really, really good with our new skinny jeans? Ethical Girl is here to make life a little easier and assure you that while being 100% “perfect” is near impossible, it’s the small things we do every day that can add up to a world of difference. I’m happy to bring my green-but-realistic perspective to Ethical Consumer and hope that you will join me in my quest to discover green solutions to our daily style and beauty dilemmas.
While I will do my best to cover Canadian products and services, sometimes something crosses my path from elsewhere that is difficult to stay mum about. Since summer is just around the corner, we all want to be looking our sun-kissed best and what better place to start than our skin? I am hooked on products from California-based Earth Science (www.earthessentials.com). The products are non-irritating and free of soaps, petroleum, toxins, heavy metals, artificial colours or parabens which is more than can be said for major drugstore brands sitting on shelves everywhere. Most of those ingredients you can’t pronounce are indeed not so good for you or the planet. Time to upgrade!
